My Style Column

my style: faux leather midi & studded shoes

leather midi // smitten studioleather midi // smitten studioleather midi // smitten studioleather midi // smitten studiosmitten studioleather midi // smitten studioI run cold (as Rupe would say) so it took the 100+ degree weather in palm springs this weekend to get me back into a skirt. I don’t always go for a midi length skirt but in pleather?… I just couldn’t help myself. Paired with the studded sandals and my snake print bag the material brings an edge to an otherwise classic silhouette. What do you think, are you a mini, midi, or maxi?

Well, I may have let out a little shriek when I received this one in the mail from 31 Bits… mission complete. It dresses up my distressed denim and brings color and a little more pattern (always a good thing ;)) to my white on white top & jacket.

If you haven’t heard about the great things 31 Bits is doing to support and empower women in Uganda head over to their site and read their mission.

my style: best of 2012

my style round-up 2012

It is no secret that I love mixing different patterns and colors. It is not only a big part of my career but it is also evident in my everyday life through the clothes I wear.

I worked in a small office and being a creative company there was no set dress code or rules (thank God). Although, while that is great for personal expression, it is also a slippery slope where I could easily get lazy with my clothing. (i.e. no one would care if I started showing up to work in my pajamas!) I started my style column as a way to keep myself motivated to put just a little effort into what I wear day to day, and to catalogue the different prints, patterns, and colors that come up in my wardrobe.

I highly recommend snapping a photo of your own outfits here and there. Especially if you have a too tiny closet like me and you can’t see 80% of your clothes without going digging. It has been fun to see how my taste has evolved just over the year and it has even helped me further refine my personal style.

This is a little round up of my favorite style posts from this year. See the coordinating full posts here: 1 party dress // 2 pop of pink // 3 pin dots & army green // 4 stripes & leopard // 5 dots & stripes // 6 floral jeans & dots // 7 bold stripe & lace // 8 fuchsia maxi & geo top

happy holidays from my family to yours

sherman samuel christmas card by max wanger & our labor of loveI wanted to pause quickly today to say Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays! This year was the first time we have ever sent out holiday cards, so I wanted to share them with you here and say a huge heartfelt thanks to each one of you for this year. Thank you for following along and for all of the encouraging comments and emails. You guys have made an eventful year so much sweeter.

xo Rupert, Sarah, Pikku, & Cracker

As for the cards… we had our first holiday photo shoot with Max Wanger & Our Labor of Love which consisted of a half an hour of Rupert and I chasing the dogs, trying to get them to sit still for more then one second. Somehow amidst Pikku attempting to eat the mistletoe and Cracker trying kiss Max, Margaux, Jesse, and Whitney… the talented bunch managed to produce a few great shots!

Here is one more personal favorite. :)
