Over the holidays Rupe and I went back to Michigan but we also fit in a little trip to Chicago. We happened to stumble across the Hotel Lincoln on Hotels.com and decided to stay there for a couple nights for a vacation from our vacation. Come to find out it is a Joie de Vivre hotel which is based out of San Francisco and is the same company responsible for the colorful Saguaro hotel in Palm Springs among many other unique California places to rest your head.
From the minute we walked in the lobby I knew this was my kind of place. It’s the kind of inviting lobby that makes you want to sit around and hang out for a while. My favorite part was the mix of patterns, colors, and textures. I snapped these photos of a few that were just in the lobby alone!
Get a peek into the lobby and read more after the jump.
From the front desk made of mis-matched old drawer fronts (find the one with the dog handle and it will reveal a little treat for your furry friends), to the plaid carpeting in the hallways, to loads of original art, it is easy to spend a few days just taking it all in. With super cozy rooms, 3 great food options, and a roof top bar with amazing views of the city and Lake Michigan you hardly have to leave its four walls (thankfully, because it was freezing when we were there)! However we did venture out to enjoy the great neighborhood shops and restaurants, oh and the park and free zoo that is right access the street.
Tips to stay: Rooms on the highest floors 9 – 12 have the best views (ask for a view. you’ll be happy you did). // One drawback was that our room was right next to the elevator so we would hear people coming and going A LOT. My ear plugs took care of that problem and was happy I had them. // Make sure to hit up the rooftop bar. J. Parker, it has great bites, drinks and views!
