weekend scenes with Ergo Baby

ergo3bMy mama world just expanded all over again with my new found love of baby wearing. I’m not sure why I hadn’t gotten around to it before now, well actually I do know and it involves a bumpy recovery for me including catheters, infections, and other scary things that I have already started to block out of my memory, which prevented me from a lot of things at the beginning. Thankfully we are sailing along much more smoothly now and it helps that Archer just about makes our hearts explode out of his adorableness on a daily basis.

Seeing as I can not get enough of the peanut’s cuddles, I was pretty excited when Ergo Baby sent me over one of their wraps to try out. Now I am loving our neighborhood strolls, walks to the market, and being able to work with little A snuggled right up to me. I’m officially a baby wearing, hands free carrying, mobile mummy and a happy ball of mush. <3

ergo2bergo5bergo-1bOn a side note, can I just talk about how huge my little guy is already getting?! I can’t believe he was in my belly just 8 weeks ago. At this rate he will pass me up in size before too long, but not to worry, I’ve decided I am just going to wrap him up in this until his feet are dragging on the ground… don’t judge ;).

scenes from the weekend

beach-baby-sarahshermansamuelsanta-monica-beach2This weekend was full of big milestones for me on the motherhood journey. My sister came to visit with her husband and two young kids from Wyoming and they were not about to stick around the house all day, so I quickly had to learn how to breastfeed on the fly and in public (gasp! ;)), something I wasn’t really looking forward to. It already sounds silly now, but I couldn’t imagine how I would ever be able to do it without my perfect little nursing station, my pillows set up just right etc, but there I was on the beach, nursing like a champ. ha!

And just like that, it opened up a whole new chapter. We were able to spend the day at the beach, get a delicious lunch at Playa Provisions, and spend a full day away from the house. The rest of the weekend was filled with more beach time, playing games on the santa monica pier, backyard picnics, dining out, and Archer’s first party! It was some good quality time with my sister and little A’s adorable cousins. More photos from the weekend after the jump…

from the weekend: sunday walks

from-the-weekend-playa-del-reyThis weekend we took our little down to Playa Del Rey and on our favorite walk along the channel and around the lagoon. We are starting to realize just how exciting it is to share our world with this new life. Everything we do now is “Archer’s first trip to the beach“, “Archer’s first shopping excursion“, or “Archer’s first Sunday nap while the Master’s is on TV” (I take my best naps when Rupe is watching golf. ha). I can only imagine how it will just get better as he gets older and is able to enjoy, interact, and remember all these firsts himself too.

I hope you had a nice weekend and maybe tried something new yourself! x sarah

from the weekend: day dates and archer’s first day out

mama's first day out // distressed denim & black pumps // sarah sherman samuelIt may have taken me 5 weeks but I did it… this weekend I finally got out of the house, and twice!

On Friday my doula dropped by to watch Archer for a bit so Rupert and I could have our first day date since baby and a little time with just the two of us. We had a long lunch at our favorite local spot and hit up a couple shops before running back to feed the little guy.  The next day we ventured out again and this time with baby in tow, to another fave spot by the same folks.

Overall, it was a huge success and much needed outings for me. Every little milestone like these are helping to build my mama confidence. The rest of the weekend we spent around the house, working on our our feeding, cuddling, walking around the hood, sleeping, and then feeding again cycle.

from the weekend: waiting for baby

02.22.15 instagram weekendSo turns out we did have one more weekend as a family of just two. We are still waiting on baby Samuel, and trying to distract ourselves with pretty heels, delicious meals, and the Oscar’s :) Also, a lot of walking, yoga, acupuncture, spicy foods, etc. etc. I’m trying my best to be patient and putting my trust in the fact that he will come when he’s supposed to. Same story, different mother right? Hope you have a great week. xo

from the weekend: appreciating the small things

flowers // simple pleasures // sarah sherman samuelWith our new addition coming right around the corner (like due this week!), I was thankful for the holiday weekend and an extra day with Rupe at home. We spent our days doing a few of our favorite simple weekend activities that we know we won’t be able to get a chance to for a while with a new little one.

We had a lingering brunch at our favorite local (Gjelina), we meandered around Abbot Kinney doing some shopping (I can’t even remember the last time we went clothes shopping just for fun), we made and hung some shelves in the nursery (which probably isn’t an appealing activity to everyone, but I LOVE it and working on a project together is one of my absolute most cherished things) and finally we took long walks around the neighborhood noticing all the gorgeous new flowers popping up and of course binge watched some Bachelor. ;)

As possibly our last weekend as just the two of us, it may not sound like the most thrilling days, but with such a huge adventure to be thankful for on the horizon it felt important to stop and recognize all life’s simple pleasures too. Hope you had a weekend full of tiny victories and lots of love. xo

from the weekend: the waiting game

venice beach pierOur hospital bag is packed, car seat is in the car, and we’ve made most of the necessary preparations for baby samuel’s arrival… and now we wait. At 38+ weeks I could still be waiting for a few weeks and maybe that will give me some time to finish the nursery, (will be sharing the plans in there this week!) and maybe it won’t, but I am totally ok with that. I hope you guys haven’t given up on me sharing the nursery design. ha! The bathroom project kind of took over but I promise it will be something good. For now, you will find me taking long walks (like this refueling one by the sea), eating spicy food, and sipping raspberry leaf tea, because nursery ready or not, I’m ready to have this little guy on the outside. :)

Hope you had a great weekend. Did any of you veg out and watch the Grammys? I only made it halfway through, so I can’t say it was all that exciting, apart from Pharrell maybe, but have the rest DVR’d.

x sarah

from the weekend: nursery beginnings

nursery items // sneak peek // sarah sherman samuelThis weekend our crib got delivered and, holy crap, things started to feel really real. I started gathering the few special pieces that I have picked up here and there for the nursery and finally got a chance to work on the design (woot woot!). I will share the plan in a few, but for now here is a sneak peek of some of the pieces and the color palette I am planning to work with. Baby Samuel is due exactly 1 month from today. Ah!
